Why your WooCommerce store is slow, and five fixes
Most slow stores share the same five problems. None of them require a rebuild.
A store that loads in five seconds on a phone loses buyers before they see a product. The good news: most slow WooCommerce sites suffer from the same short list of problems.
1. Too many plugins doing the same job
Three slider plugins, two form plugins, and a page builder loading everywhere. Audit, remove, and load what remains only on pages that need it.
2. Images straight from the camera
Serve WebP or AVIF, resize to the size actually shown, and lazy load everything below the first screen.
3. No page caching
Product and category pages can be cached for guests. Cart and checkout cannot. A correctly configured cache plugin handles both.
4. A slow host
Shared hosting with an overloaded database will undo every other fix. Check server response time first. If it is above 600 ms, move.
5. Fonts and scripts that block rendering
Self-host fonts, preload the ones above the fold, and defer scripts that are not needed for the first paint.
